Mackinac State Historic Parks is seeking to hire two full-time seasonal historical interpreters to provide programs and run a reconstructed 1790s water-powered sawmill at Historic Mill Creek State Park. Located near Mackinaw City, Michigan, Historic Mill Creek features one of the oldest industrial operations in the northern Great Lakes. The original sawmill, constructed c.1790, sawed lumber primarily for customers on nearby Mackinac Island. Interpreters lead daily public programs at the sawmill, saw pit, and associated workshop. The 640-acre site also functioned as a farm, originally containing 40 acres of hay fields, cattle, and an orchard.

Mill Creek is open from May 8 - September 1, 2024, with training provided in early May. Seasonal interpreter positions start at $13.00/hr., with an end of the season bonus based on hours worked. Low cost housing is available in Mackinaw City for MSHP employees. For more information and to apply online, visit: https://www.mackinacparks.com/career/historic-mill-creek-sawmill-interpreter.
