Historic St. Mary’s City, an accredited living history museum commemorating Maryland’s first capital (1634-1695), seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Waterfront Site Supervisor no later than April 15, 2026.
This position is responsible for the interpretation of the tall ship, Maryland Dove and the related maritime history of the 17th century for the general public and school tours. As a supervisor, this position ensures that seasonal and volunteer staff are properly trained to interpret and demonstrate period-correct activities on ship and shore.
This position will also be responsible for shipboard maintenance by working and coordinating with the ship’s captain and ship’s carpenter to assign ship maintenance tasks to site interpretive staff.
This position is responsible for being part of the crew that sails Maryland Dove at the home port and on outreaches to other ports. Participation in the Coast Guard random drug testing consortium is mandatory.
Enthusiasm, experience in staff supervision, effective communication and organizational skills, the ability to work with a variety of people and in a team setting, and the ability to conduct historical research required. A minimum of three years’ experience working as a living history interpreter is required.
In-depth knowledge of maritime history is a must.
Salaried position ($46 – 48,000 yearly, dependent on experience) with excellent benefits package.
