Looking for Fulltime/Seasonal or Fulltime/Permeant Historical Interpreter(s)

Camp Flintlock is the only North Carolina based company that delivers experiential learning about the Revolutionary War and 18th century American life. We service 120-170 schools every year stretching from Baltimore, MD, to Jacksonville, FL. Applicants must be willing to travel.

• Transportation from our office to and between school(s) is provided.
• Food while at schools and traveling is provided.
• Accommodations, usually camping, is provided.
• Clothing is provided.
• Staff housing may be available.

Pay starts at $90.00-$100.00/Day. Applicants who master our material quickly are eligible to immediate raises. Additional raises are also available for ability to or willingness to learn to drive our 3/4 ton truck and trailer, lead a crew, learn fife and/or drum, handle and demonstrate historical black powder firearms/artillery. Pay is monthly.

Bonuses are paid to employees twice a year depending on how many field trips they participate in.

Conditions

Work is done outdoors in all weather and climate. Applicants must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk over rough or uneven ground. Camping is primitive, but employees are welcomed to bring whatever sleeping set up they wish. Our primary audience is elementary school students, but applicants must be willing to interact with peoples of all ages, ethnicities, religions, disabilities, etc. Discrimination is not tolerated. Work days are primarily a Monday-Friday, but travel sometimes requires work on Sunday. Additional days are occasionally available on Saturdays. Work hours are typically around 8 hours per day, but travel may require longer hours. Our busy seasons are Feb/March-June and Sept/Oct-December.

Training & Education

There are no specific educational requirements or experience needed to apply. All training necessary is provided on the job. Supplementary training opportunities and resources are available. Supplemental training may be paid for by the company, but is pursued on the employee's time.
