Historic Trades Brewer - Carillon Historical Park - Dayton
Hours: Full-Time, Hourly, $15
Principal Function: The Historic Trades Brewer is responsible for production, and for providing engaging production demonstrations in Carillon Historical Park’s 1850s brewery. The interpreter is responsible for interacting with guests using historically appropriate terminology, tools, and techniques. Under the direction of the Historic Trades Manager or the senior production supervisor, beers, wines, soft drinks, and baked goods will be made for sale in the Brewery and other locations throughout Carillon Historical Park. Depending on experience, the position will also be responsible for teaching workshops and Brewer For A Day programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to:
Demonstrating brewing techniques in front of the public as a costumed interpreter
Engaging guests in a friendly, energetic, and appropriate manner, effectively using the interpretive area, tools, and techniques
Keeping a safe and inviting workspace for guests and other cast members
Understanding the tools and techniques of the 19th century brewing trade
Capable of working long hours on one’s feet in hot and cold conditions and able to safely carry up to 50 pounds
Communicating effectively
Possessing the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as well as extended hours, per the production schedule
Possesses basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and BeerSmith software.
