    ALHFAM Bulletin Editor & Coordinator Services

    The Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums (ALHFAM) is an organization of people who bring history to life. ALHFAM enables its members to make history a valuable part of the lives of museum visitors. It achieves this purpose through the exchange of ideas, skills, information and experiences based on accurate, active, participatory and object or process-based interpretation.

    ALHFAM seeks a part-time Editor and Coordinator for a digital publication known as the ‘ALHFAM Bulletin’. The ideal candidate will be hired on an annual contract basis.

    The ALHFAM Bulletin is a semiannual publication of the Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums and is a benefit of membership. Issues contain 5-6 articles of 3-5 pages each, as well as a president’s message, editor’s message, and pages dedicated to organizational information.  Of the articles in each issue, one should be a book, media or exhibit review. The content and tone of the publication should focus on readability, storytelling and professional development, with clear statements of sources, references, copyright permissions, and other publication guidelines.

    Current ALHFAM members may find past issues as reference on the ALHFAM website under Publications. Non-members who wish to review a past issue should contact the Communications Committee Chair to request a sample issue.

    ALHFAM BULLETIN Editor & Coordinator Duties and Scope of Work

    The ALHFAM Bulletin Editor and Coordinator (hereafter referred to as Editor) oversees the Bulletin content solicitation, generation and production. The digital publication design, formatting and distribution will be supported by the ALHFAM webmaster.

The Editor undertakes these tasks in a fiscally responsible manner by soliciting member-generated content as well as industry and research student articles that are voluntarily contributed to the organization. In doing so, the Editor will:

            Ensure that articles and reviews provide verifiable references and adhere to Intellectual Property and Copyright best practices;
