    Title:                Visitor Services Representative

    Reports to:     Museum Shop Sales Associate

    Team:              Marketing and Visitor Services

    Position:         Part-time seasonal, up to 15 hours a week $9.00/hour, not eligible for benefits.

    Overview Of Position

    Visitor Services Representatives are the primary communication channel between the Accokeek Foundation at Piscataway Park, its members, and the general public by welcoming and providing exceptional customer service to visitors. Representative runs Visitor Center, sells gift shop merchandise, and assists in the promotion and selling of memberships to support the Foundation mission, values, and principles. This is a part-time position and requires working regular weekend hours. A background, or demonstrated interest, in natural and cultural resources, agriculture, and history is desired.

    Specific Duties

    • Greet all visitors and members and provide information on Piscataway Park and amenities managed by the Accokeek Foundation (AF). This includes an educational perspective and orientation of site, suggestions for self-guided activities, and list of upcoming events.
    • Answer AF main phone line, answer questions, and transfer calls.
    • Respond to general information visitor emails send to Visitor Center email address.
    • Provide Accokeek Foundation membership information to visitors; sell and process memberships.
    • Sell gift shop merchandise.
    • Keep a running tally of the daily visitation count.
    • Monitor the visitor center for issues related to customer service: toilet paper and paper towels, cleanliness, lighting, signage, promotional brochures, etc., keeping supplies well stocked and organized. Notify Museum Shop Sales Associate of any needs.
    • On weekends, serve as the internal contact person for emergencies on site, communicating issues to the Site Supervisor.
    • Help during site-wide events.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Professional Experience And Qualifications:

    • Computer proficiency is required.
    • Position requires professional, personal interaction with visitors.
    • Marketing and retail sales experience highly desired
    • Must be available weekends.
    • Must be able to speak proper English well. Bi-lingual is a plus, but not required.
