    Rate: $13.00 starting hourly rate to $16.00 max hourly rate

    Pay Grade: [PT] | Starting salary based on prior experience and education.

    Location: Farmpark, Kirtland, Ohio 44094

    Position Summary:

    Lake Metroparks is seeking a part-time Corporate Sales and Events Specialist to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of public and private events at Farmpark. Reporting to the Farmpark Corporate Sales and Events Manager, this position provides administrative and event support, coordinates communications and logistics, maintains accurate records, and provides courteous service to guests. The schedule is up to 28 hours per week and may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Education and/or Experience:

    ·         High school diploma or equivalent.

    ·         One to two years of experience in customer service, event coordination, public service, or related work.

    ·         Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Lake Metroparks’ vehicle insurance requirements.

    ·         Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

    ·         Availability to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

    ·         Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    ·         Ability to operate Park District vehicles and equipment safely, as assigned.

    Required Training: Employees must complete and maintain all required training, which may include safety, fraud prevention, ethics, harassment prevention, and job-specific training.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    ·         Respond promptly and professionally to telephone calls, emails, mail, and other communications about events, rentals, reservations, and department operations.

    ·         Prepare, maintain, and organize event and rental contracts, invoices, records, correspondence, and related documents.

    ·         Maintain accurate event, rental, program, and financial records and prepare monthly activity reports for the supervisor.

    ·         Coordinate facility use and event logistics with Lake Metroparks staff, including event instructions, room or site setup, ranger support, alcohol-related requests, equipment, and related communications.

    ·         Assist with event setup, delivery, and breakdown by preparing materials, monitoring event spaces, assisting guests, and communicating operational needs.

    ·         Provide courteous guest service, share accurate information about Lake Metroparks, support visitor safety, and help events operate efficiently.

    ·         Review department information on the Lake Metroparks website and submit update requests to the supervisor.

    ·         Follow safety procedures, report hazards and incidents promptly, and help maintain a safe environment for participants, visitors, volunteers, and employees.

    ·         Perform other related duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position has no supervisory duties.

    TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT:

    ·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, web-based applications, social media platforms, and standard office equipment.

    ·         Ability to use event management systems, electronic calendars, databases, and communication tools for coordination and recordkeeping.

    ·         Ability to operate or assist with event equipment, office equipment, two-way radios, carts, and other equipment used for assigned duties.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    The following knowledge, skills, and abilities support successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

    Knowledge:

    ·         Knowledge of basic event planning, coordination, and customer service practices.

    ·         Knowledge of administrative recordkeeping, scheduling, and communication practices related to event operations.

    ·         Basic knowledge of safety practices applicable to public events, visitor services, and working around farm facilities, live animals, and farm equipment.

    Skills:

           Clear verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

           Organizational skills and attention to detail when maintaining event records, schedules, and communications.

           Customer service skills for working respectfully with visitors, clients, volunteers, employees, and community partners.

           Ability to communicate information to individuals and groups during events and visitor activities.

           Ability to use sound judgment and maintain professionalism when priorities or event conditions change.

    Abilities:

           Work independently and collaboratively to support event operations and Park District goals.

           Interact with the public, coworkers, volunteers, and supervisors with tact, courtesy, integrity, and professionalism.

           Identify problems, gather relevant information, communicate concerns, and help implement practical solutions.

           Recognize and respond to visitor safety and operational needs in a working farm environment.

           Adapt to varying schedules, weather conditions, event locations, and attendance levels.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands below describe those commonly needed to perform the essential duties of this position. Lake Metroparks provides reasonable accommodations and workplace supports for qualified applicants and employees who experience barriers to employment, in accordance with applicable law.

    While performing this job, the employee regularly sits, stands, walks, speaks, listens, and uses hands and fingers to operate office equipment and handle event materials. The employee may walk on uneven indoor and outdoor surfaces; climb stairs; bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull; and assist with event setup and breakdown. The employee regularly lifts or moves items weighing up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment. The work also requires close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Duties may include computer work, telephone and two-way radio communication, document review, retrieving supplies, and moving event materials and equipment.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment includes offices, event spaces, visitor areas, barns, outdoor grounds, and other Farmpark facilities within a working farm atmosphere. The employee may work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, rain, snow, wind, and changing seasonal conditions. Work may occur around visitors, volunteers, staff, live animals, farm equipment, vehicles, uneven or slippery walking surfaces, dirt, dust, mud, hay, straw, and typical farm odors. Noise levels may vary depending on event activity, visitor attendance, animals, equipment, and outdoor conditions. Personal protective equipment may be required when appropriate for assigned duties.

    POTENTIAL HAZARDS

    Potential hazards are consistent with working in a public event and working farm setting. The employee may be exposed to live animals, animal waste, allergens, hay, straw, dust, mud, insects, uneven terrain, slippery surfaces, inclement weather, vehicle traffic, farm equipment, moving machinery, tools, and event setup materials. The employee may also encounter crowded visitor areas, noise, electrical cords, temporary event equipment, and other conditions associated with public programs and special events. The employee is expected to follow established safety procedures, use appropriate caution around animals and equipment, report hazards or incidents promptly, and support a safe environment for participants, visitors, volunteers, and staff.
