Location: The Homeplace Living History Farm at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Western Tennessee

Duties: Engages visitors in daily activities typical of a mid-19th century, middle class farm in Western Tennessee. Strives to provide an enjoyable experience for all visitors. Designs and presents specific programs intended to convey environmental messages in a historic context. Adapts messages and programs to a wide range of audiences. Demonstrates historic skills. Research and special projects may be assigned as appropriate. Support the overall LBL environmental education program by presenting programs/assisting with activities at other facilities and presenting programs at sites outside of recreation area.  

Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Education, Recreation, History, or related fields, and not be currently enrolled in school. Warm enthusiastic demeanor that is quality customer service driven. Interest in engaging visitors with a focus on making their experience fun. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple projects. Ability to work in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions. Availability for weekend, holiday, and evening work.

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred: Strong written and oral communication skills with a variety of audiences. Interest in handling and caring for livestock. Interest in historic trades such as weaving, spinning, gardening, blacksmithing, woodworking, leatherworking, etc. Computer software skills, including word processing skills and skill in database/spreadsheet, including PowerPoint.

Benefits: Weekly stipend of $250. On site housing in fully-furnished houses or house trailers. Position lasts up to one year
