Fort Ticonderoga is seeking a full-time Head of Livestock to lead visitor education about livestock within many militaries the served at Ticonderoga. The Head of Livestock leads all aspects of care of heritage breeds livestock, including, but not limited to feed, pasture, fencing, training, & veterinary care. The Head of Livestock will use farm skills both to educate visitors about working with animals, but also to meet the needs of living history programs at Fort Ticonderoga. The Head of Livestock executes farm chores and daily work in historical clothing and trains other staff members in this important work. The Livestock Manager is part of the public face and voice to visitors at this historic site and acts with corresponding respect and professionalism. They should be vigilant sentinels of site stewardship and visitor safety while educating a wide variety of visitors through interpretive programming. The Head of Livestock leads the on-going development of Fort Ticonderoga’s Heritage Breeds program and interpretive farming programs.
