Based on our internal equity review process, the starting salary for this position will be $17.62
The current full hourly range for this position is $17.62 -$21.42
Join the exceptional staff of Fort Nisqually Living History Museum! The mission of our accredited museum is to engage a diverse regional audience with Puget Sound's first globally connected settlement through historic preservation, experiential learning, and interpretation. The Collections Assistant works in conjunction with the Curator of Collections and has an adequate understanding of collection management standards and curatorial best practices. The position supports the maintenance and preservation of the museum’s collections through artifact handling, housekeeping, and curatorial storage maintenance. The position is required to maintain proper documentation of the museum collections through accessioning, photography, cataloging, inventories, object files, and museum collection database (CatalogIt) work. The Collections Assistant provides prompt responses to research inquiries as well as assists in the conservation, research, and exhibition of the museum collections as assigned.

Position Information
Perform a variety of duties and complexity for assigned division/department
In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to:

Essential Duties
- Provide routine work functions that align with industry deliverables.
- Assist in maintaining and updating files, graphics, inventory and/or database systems.
- Create, prepare and/or maintain a variety of records logs and/or files; locate materials and information in records and files. Prepare and distribute information as required.
- Respond to customer inquiries, receive and elevate complaints, and respond to requests for deliverables.
- Perform job duties on time and within standards to meet deadlines and operational objectives.
- Interprets and applies established policies and procedures where clear and ample precedent has been established.
- Implement division strategies to achieve stated goals.

- Provide specialized support to other department staff, assisting with technical and/or complex duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age.
- At least 2 years of related experience OR Associate’s degree in related area required.
- High School Diploma or GED
Additional Information
HOURS:
Up to 28 hours per week
Some nights and weekends required

- Ability to safely perform job tasks in a variety of park and non-park settings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Ability to communicate to conduct program and exchange information with district employees and customers.
- Bending, stretching, walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to prepare written or typed recreational and leisure program material and monitor activities.
- Noise level is moderately loud.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to navigate emergency situations, including performing CPR.
