Things are different in the West: Our historic sites are farther apart, and the overall population density is lower. Some of our sites are many miles from major populations – it can be a challenge to attract staff, volunteers, and audiences. Throw in our unique histories, rugged terrain, and dry climate, and we have a different sort of place.

This September we will meet to share our challenges and successes!

The Snoqualmie Valley is a scenic area east of Seattle. We’ll gather to learn about a local success story, where four organizations are partnering to extend their reach. We’ll spend an afternoon at Camlann Medieval Village, wrapping it up with a feast on Sunday evening. We’ll visit Snoqualmie Prairie at Meadowbrook Farm to hear from the Snoqualmie Tribe, whose members are restoring a native meadow that was once a hops farm.

We will start our day with sessions and follow up with site visits each day.

Register before August 29 for the Virtual Conference if you are staying to watch it with us.

Download the Conference Schedule here.

Fees:

Members
Full conference $60, Daily rate, $30

Non-Members
Full conference: $100*, Daily rate, $70

*NOTE: If you register at the non-member rate (either daily or full), your registration will include a one-year Individual Membership in ALHFAM.

Guests:
Guests can be included for the visit to Camlann and th
e feast on Sunday, on a “space available” basis. Cost: $30.

Guests may join us on Saturday morning for the 11:00am train ride by purchasing a ticket at Snoqualmie Railway Museum. Guests are welcome to join us for dinner out on Saturday and Monday nights.

We want to hear your stories, too.

There will be time for sessions where our members share their own programs about “what works in the West.” Tell us about a partnership, an interpretive program or a promotion that worked for you, here in the West. To submit your idea for a session or workshop, click here.

We will watch the ALHFAM 2024 Virtual Conference together:

Curating Living History: Preserving Skills and Intangible Culture

On Monday and Tuesday, we’ll gather in the conference rooms at Snoqualmie Prairie to watch the ALHFAM Virtual Conference. If you attended the Annual Conference in person in New Jersey, then you are already registered for the virtual conference Watch Party. If not, you can register for the Virtual Conference for $90, here
