Collections Camp: Textiles American Assn. for State and Local History
In June, AASLH will host a two-day workshop on the care and management of textile collections at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History in Hartford, CT. Instructor and costume consultant Karen DePauw will lead hands-on exercises in the storage, display, care, preservation, conservation, and identification of textile artifacts, including clothing, domestic items, uniforms, quilts, flags, and more. If your organization has questions about folding versus hanging storage, displaying clothing on mannequins, identifying mystery fiber content, best practices for cleaning textiles, and prolonging the usable life of your textile collections, this is the workshop for you. Register by May 20 for the best pricing: $300 members/$425 nonmembers.
