Join the staff of Volkening Heritage Farm for an in-depth, hands-on workshop on dairy cows, dairy products, and dairy life. The workshop begins as 10:00am April 3rd with milking and progresses until noon on April 4th. Topics discussed and practices include:
- Hand-milking for historic sites
- Intro to mechanical milking
- Milk handling and safety
- Cream separation
- Butter-making
- Cheese-making
- Cow and calf care
- Navigating local, state, and federal dairy laws
