    Job Summary

    Work at any of our historic sites on Mackinac Island, MI or in Mackinaw City, MI – Colonial Michilimackinac, Fort Mackinac, Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, and Historic Downtown Buildings. Positions are in third person and require wearing period appropriate clothing, presenting talks, and doing period demonstrations, depending on the position.     Responsibilities and Duties

    — Put visitors to the site first by treating them with respect, serving their needs, and providing an enjoyable and educational experience.

    — Lead tours and demonstrations

    — Present informal interpretive talks and programs throughout the site.

    — Participate in other interpretive presentations and special events as required.

    Qualifications and Skills

    — Must be 18 years or older.

    — Must have an interest in historical interpretation and be dedicated to public engagement and education.

    — Must be outgoing, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and have strong public speaking skills.

    — Experience with or interest in historic interpretation.

    — Must be able to follow verbal and written directions, and be able to verbally communicate with visitors and coworkers.

    — Must be able to work assigned position length. Positions work 12 to 26 weeks, will start in early May or June, and will work to Labor Day or through October; length of employment will vary depending on the position.

    - Must be able to physically stand for long periods of time, be in all weather elements outside, wearing period appropriate clothing, walk up steep inclines, and other various duties depicted in position descriptions.
