Ox Driving

Details:  250 years ago, oxen were the backbone of many farms in Colonial America as they slowly--but powerfully--served as our ancestors' heavy lifters. Today, oxen are a rare sight, an unfortunate victim of modernization. During this three-hour workshop, you will have the opportunity to step back in time and rediscover the world of oxen. Topics to be covered include daily care, grooming, yoking, commands, and basic driving. We will go at a pace that is comfortable to all. To maximize hands-on participation, this workshop is limited to 4 participants. This class runs over lunch time but no food will be provided. You are welcome to bring a snack if you would like. Ages 18 and up only.

Price: $45 (museum members) / $50 (non-members)
