Strength of Diamonds: Preserving History's Facets, Skills, and Occupations for the Modern Era
Arkansas is home to the only diamond mine in the United States. Diamonds are formed when carbon is subjected to extremely high pressures and temperatures. While some objects may buckle under the kind of pressure it takes for a diamond to form, the carbon atoms come together to form the hardest naturally-occurring substance on earth. As historians, we are under pressure to preserve all facets of history, including the skills and occupations of our ancestors. As living historians and agriculturalists, we are uniquely qualified to pass these skills on to others. As we do this, we come together to form a community of skilled craftspeople that can be bonded like carbon atoms and have the strength of a diamond. Join us in Little Rock in June of 2025 to learn ways to preserve all facets of history, skills and occupations for the modern era and future generations.

Become a Conference Vendor! Our vendor area will be open June 23rd & June 24th at the Robinson Center, which is next to the DoubleTree by Marriott. It will be the location for all coffee breaks and close to all conference activities on those days. The deadline to apply is May 15.

No registrations after 6/4/25. Friday pre-conference field trips are separate from conference registration. Full conference registration includes Sat, Sun, Mon & Tues + all meals when staying at the conference hotel. See conference program for full details, including guest registration rates.
REFUNDS
A $50 processing fee will be applied to all refunds, subject to the following terms and conditions.
All refund requests must be made in writing via mail or e-mail by published cancellation dates. ALHFAM is not responsible for cancellation requests that are incomplete or are not received.
Cancellation requests received by May 15, 2025 will receive a 100% refund on registration fees, minus the processing fee.
Cancellation requests received between May 16, 2025 and June 4, 2025, will receive a 50% refund on registration fees, minus the processing fee.
No refunds will be given after June 4, 2025.
Standard rooms at our host hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Little Rock, are currently sold out for June 19-21 but may become available again through cancellations. Standard rooms at the conference rate of $139/night, including breakfast, are available for June 22-25.
If you wish to stay at the DoubleTree for the entire conference, you have a choice:
1. You can choose rooms at a higher rate for June 19-22 and then move to another room for June 22-25 for a room at the conference rate.
2. You can stay in the higher-rate room for the entire conference.

5. Click the "Check Rooms & Rates" box. The group rate of $139.00 per night is available for Standard King and Double Queen rooms.
6. Guests can also call 1-800-HILTONS and reference the “Assn of Living History” room block to receive the discount.
Airport shuttle service is available for DoubleTree guests, which can be requested directly from the hotel.
We have an additional block of rooms at the Courtyard Little Rock Downtown for June 20-25, at the same $139/night rate, including breakfast. Rooms must be booked by May 18th. This hotel is located about a 12-minute walk (0.5 mile) from the host hotel on the same street, with wide, well-lit sidewalks. Use this link to go to the page for the special group rate.
We have a third block of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Little Rock Downtown for June 18-25, at the same $139/night rate, including breakfast. Rooms must be booked by June 6th. The conference committee will provide shuttle transportation by request from the airport to the Courtyard Little Rock Downtown and the Hilton Garden Inn Little Rock Downtown, and between the Courtyard, Garden Inn, and Doubletree Hotels at the beginning and end of the conference day June 20-24.
The free Rock Region Metro Streetcar can be used to shuttle between the three hotels from approximately 8:30am-11:30pm Friday & Saturday, and 10:45am-6:15pm Monday & Tuesday.
