The Plimoth Jacket™ Curatorial intern will assist with the development of an innovative online exhibit which explores the history and creative processes behind The Plimoth Jacket™. Using the Museum’s archives, the intern will create a visual and written record of the The Plimoth Jacket™ to document information such as the inspiration for and manufacturing of individual embroidery and handmade embellishments. Based on this research, the intern will support Museum staff in conceptualizing the exhibit’s design and narrative arc, thereby gaining valuable experience working across departments with our Curator of Collections and Manager of Historical Clothing & Textiles.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in fashion history, material culture, decorative arts or art history, anthropology, American history, oral history, museum studies, collections and/or archives management. They will be familiar with current historical research techniques, have excellent writing skills, and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, scanners, digital photography and other cataloguing tools. Familiarity with Agisoft Photoscan or other 3-D photogrametry software is a plus!
