Principal Function: The Interpretation Coordinator provides oversight for a pre-determined group of experience areas ensuring that daily operations are running smoothly and interpretation and other departmental staff have the support necessary to provide exceptional guest experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Interacts with the public using Opening Doors engaging techniques and facilitates hands-on activities.
2. Collaborates with Programming to advise, educate, develop and execute programs related to their areas of specialization and participates in programs as needed.
3. Reassigns staff for better experience area coverage when necessary to ensure the optimal guest experience is achieved.
4. Ensures that required post maintenance is accomplished per schedule or need.
5. Acts as a liaison between Interpretation and other departments.
6. Participates in trainings and research as needed; periodically organizes and leads trainings.
7. Specializes in a certain area and provides relevant training and support.
8. Acts as person in charge; attends morning briefing, leads site briefing, assigns daily activities, communicates with the Manager-on-Duty, reports absences and tardiness.

Supervisory Responsibilities: May team lead and/or supervise departmental part-time and seasonal staff.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED);or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience as an interpreter is desired. Previous experience working in the museum and/or entertainment park industry is desired.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to working in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and outdoor weather conditions. The employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Conner Prairie is generally open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, this position will be required to work beyond these hours and when open for special events.
