    Manager of Foundation Relations

    The Manager of Foundation Relations seeks to obtain grants for the Museum’s programs, projects and operating expenses. This is achieved by researching foundation prospects and state/federal funding agencies, establishing contacts with foundation prospects, writing grant proposals, and overseeing grant stewardship. As part of the Development team, the Manager participates in department planning and fundraising activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Identify funding needs for programs/projects and operating funds

    • Research foundation prospects (private and public) through online databases, articles, or other sources

    • Identify and solicit new foundation donors, and steward existing  funders

    • Meet with departments to gather materials for proposals

    • Write cover letters, proposals, budgets for programs/projects, and thank you letters for review by Director of Development and President

    • Process grant awards to ensure correct accounting of gifts

    •  Prepare reports on grant awards as required by foundations

    • Develop and implement a foundation strategy for the year to achieve set goals
    • Participate in Development department  fundraising activities as needed


    • Bachelor’s Degree required

    • Three or more years of experience with grant writing or related work

    • Thorough understanding of a development operation in a complex environment

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Excellent organizational skills; Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

    • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision

    • A commitment to professional ethics; Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information

    This position is part-time, 22.5 hours per week. Benefits include a flexible schedule, paid time off, 403(b) with match, and museum membership.
