America's Founding Fathers has two positions available for a Colonial period historic interpreter. You'll be responsible for making presentations about the Revolutionary War period (1765-1783) and the Declaration of Independence. You need to be very knowledgeable about the period and be able to engage our guests as you draw them back to the founding of America. You may be asked questions about the Constitution, but our primary purpose is to tell the story of the Revolution and Declaration. We also have a replica of Liberty Bell forged in France and we demonstrate flintlock rifles. We are in the process of expanding our living history across 9 acres located between Rapid City and Mount Rushmore.

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge about the Colonial period including the Revolutionary War and Declaration of Independence
    • Great speaking skills
    • The ability to work with both small groups of 2 and large groups of 100
    • A bonus is to have a persona and we prefer that you wear Colonial clothes
    • The ability to demonstrate flintlock rifles is optional
This is a seasonal position, May 1 to October 15. Our hours are 8am to 5pm daily and you'll work 25-33 hours a week. We schedule hours as early as 8am but no later than 6pm. Pay is $12 per hour (and South Dakota does not have state income tax!). Our website at FoundingFathersBlackHills.com will be completely redone the week of March 12.

To apply - send a cover letter and resume to: Chris Orr, General Manager,  ihfoundingfathers (at) gmail.com
