    Under the direction of the Park Superintendent and Assistant Park Superintendent, this position is responsible for the overall operations including interpretation, preservation and supervision of the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm and other related park interpretive needs.  This unique historic facility portrays the lifestyles of a typical German farm family in eastern Gillespie County at the turn-of-the-century (1915-1918) in an authentic farm setting involving 3rd person interpretation.  Position provides living history demonstrations to the public by using a variety of artifacts and/or replicas, interprets life on the farm using appropriate methods in relationship to the area, and conducts interpretive tours on a daily basis.  Provides quality internal and external customer service.  Dresses in authentic period clothing, manages staff and volunteers, cares for farm livestock, maintains and cleans historic buildings, maintains farm grounds, and performs routine facility maintenance on historic structures and equipment.  Plans, researches, and implements outreach and educational programs for all ages.  Helps oversee a large historic park collection and prepares annual inventories.  Responsible for daily administrative management duties of site, park reports, and fiscal control in a computer system.  Other duties include site promotion, marketing, interviewing employees, volunteer recruitment and supervision, evaluating direct reports and volunteers, work scheduling, preparation of assigned reports, assists with managing site budget, purchasing, inventory control, maintaining standard operating procedures for the living history farm, training of staff and volunteers, implementation of a safety program, park outreach, park programs and special events.  Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  Performs additional duties as assigned.  Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
